Artworks depicting Hanoi on show at exhibition

Paintings, engravings, sculptures, photos, videos, and installations showcasing Hanoi are on show at an exhibition that opened in the Vietnamese capital Thursday.

Hanoi – The City in Art, which features works by more than 20 foreign and Vietnamese artists, will be in three parts.
The first, from November 25 to December 3, showcases works by Bui Xuan Phai, Nguyen Bao Toan, Vuong Thao, Brian Ring, Do Phan and Tran Nguyen Hieu.
They reveal a nostalgic, utopian, romantic, and idealized view of Hanoi.
The second, to be held from December 7 to 13, will depict Hanoi in a state of change through works by Do Minh Tam, Vu Bich Thuy, Nguyen The Son, Vu Dan Tan, and Nguyen Nhu Y.
The third part, from December 16 to 30, will feature works by Hamburg photographer André Lützen that blur the border between private and public life in the city.
The event, organized by the Goethe Institute, will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany, September 23.
The exhibition is on at the Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, and admission is free.
