According to Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 13th Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival will be held in Lao Cai province in October. The festival will be a good opportunity to introduce and promote culture and custom of ethnic groups to domestic and international tourists.

The festival purposes to introduce the cultural characteristics of ethnic groups as well as promote the region’s tourism strengths. Lao Cai is well – known for the natural beauty as well as the traditional and unique culture. Nowhere in Vietnam that tourists can take the chance to travel and experience as in Lao Cai. One of the most famous and beautiful attractions in Lao Cai that is Sapa where enchants a lot of tourists who have ever visited the destination.

There are eight provinces participating the festival: Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Ha Giang.

Besides it, the festival promises to bring a lot of interesting activities reflecting the culture and tradition of ethnic groups to local people and tourists such as: performances of excerpts of outstanding ethnic group festivals, mass art performances, traditional ethnic clothing shows, en exhibition on cultural products and tourism, photo exhibition on specific cultural identities in the region. These cultural activities attract the participation of thousands of artists from the provinces.

In addition, a fair featuring handicrafts and traditional ethnic musical instruments will be organized on the occasion of the festival. This event  will contribute a certain role in promoting and introducing ethnic minorities as well as Vietnam tourism.
