First cartoon week in Vietnam gets underway

Vietnam’s first ever cartoon week opened in Hanoi on June 1.

The week will include two exhibitions, including one from Belgium entitled “Cartoon and Jazz Wallonie-Bruxelles” and “Cartoon and children’s songs” of Vietnam’s Kim Dong Publishing House. The two exhibitions will screen 62 cartoons, including 30 from Vietnam, which feature the relationship between cartoons and music.

The Director of the Kim Dong Publishing House, Pham Quang Vinh said that as this is a special event for children, there will be performances of Jazz and children’s music during the week.

As part of the exhibitions, the Belgian cartoonist of Vietnamese origin Vink (Vinh Khoa) will meet with secondary school and university students to pass on his skills. He will also attend a camp with Vietnamese cartoonists to create a piece of work to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
