Top Vietnamese male gymnast Nguyen Ha Thanh soared to win a silver medal in the men’s vault event at the Internationaux de France 2013 World Cup C III, which took place in the French city of La Roche sur Yon on March 16-17.

Thanh surpassed many strong rivals from the US, Poland and Ukraine in the final competition to finish in second position, scoring 13,666 points, just behind the gold medalist and also Olympic vault champion Yang Hak Seon (the Republic of Korea) with 14,500 points.

Ha Thanh was the only Vietnamese gymnast invited to compete in this year’s event for his amazing achievements last year when he took home one vault gold and one parallel bars silver medal at the FIG ART Challenge Cup Grand Prix Ostrava 2012 in the Czech Republic.

Following this tournament, Thanh will fly to Cottbus, Germany for the FIG Challenger Cup on March 21-24, while the golden girl of Vietnamese gymnastics, Phan Thi Ha Thanh, will take part in the year’s third Challenger Cup in Doha, Qatar, from March 27 to 29.
