Khanh Trach Temple - Thien Vuong Pagoda
Traditionally on the new year's occasion from lunar January to March, the ceremony takes place in Khanh Trach Temple-Thien Vuong pagoda. The tourists come here to wish for the well-being and prosperity as well as to memorize Lieu Hanh Princess.
According to history record, Khanh Trach Temple – Thien Vuong pagoda was built in Hong Duc time as a place of Lieu Hanh Princess worship, one of the four immortals of Vietnam history. She had great contribution to the struggle for the nation's construction and protection, was well known for helping and assisting the civilians, and was crowned the Nation's Mother by King Le.
To memorize her great merit, the people conferred her the Village's Tutelary and created the shrine to worship. The pagoda was located on a flat land of 2000m2 area, a position of seating on the dragon's forehead. The pagoda has three major open rooms, a harem and the bronze worship statue of 40 kilograms.
The pagoda has been degraded seriously due to time. Compliant with the aspirations of the Buddhists and local people, the pagoda has been recently restored according to the design the of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with total cost of 1.6 billion dongs donated by benefactors, nuns, Buddhists and people in the country.
On August 04, 2011, according to the Decision No.2519/QD, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, the Khanh Trach temple – Thien Vuong pagoda was ranked provincial historical monument. Venerable Thich Tam Hien, Head of Tinh Gia district Buddhism said “Khanh Trach Temple – Thien Vuong pagoda is an attractive cultural destination. The tourists participate in here to wish for a safe and lucky year as well as find out the peaceful moments”.
